In this critical time, we need to balance the polarizing tendencies of power-based and rights-based approaches to peace and conflict with the integrative nature of human needs-based and spiritual approaches—to bring people together based on the common ground they share rather than in a struggle over who is right and wrong. This session will explore some ways of doing this, including through peace-building among different stakeholders in a conflict and through collective meditation or prayer. Scientific evidence of the effectiveness of these approaches around the world will be reviewed.
